Serra 4 Life 2026: The 10-Hour Charity Challenge at Magaluf's Athletics Track
Serra 4 Life takes place on Saturday 28 November 2026 at the athletics track in Magaluf. It is a charity challenge on foot with four formats, from a 10-hour solo run to a 4 km walk, and every euro raised goes to families living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
It is the kind of event that says a lot about life in Calvià once the summer crowds have gone home. Local clubs, families and friends turn up on a late-November Saturday, lace up, and spend the day going round in circles for a good cause. You do not need to be an ultra-runner to be part of it. The charity walk is open to all ages, and there is even a way to contribute without taking a place at all.
What Is Serra 4 Life?
Serra 4 Life is organised by Club Deportivo Fit4Life and is billed as a "Desafío Duchenne", a Duchenne challenge. The whole day is built around time rather than distance. Instead of racing to a finish line, competitors cover as many laps as they can within a fixed window of five or ten hours, with official chip timing by Elitechip, results tables and trophies for the competitive categories.
The organisers state that 100% of the money raised goes to two charities: Duchenne Parent Project España and Duchenne Baleares. The event is listed on Calvià Town Hall's official agenda for 28 November, alongside the rest of the municipality's late-autumn programme.
Thinking about buying or selling in Mallorca?
The competitive side is capped at 300 participants, so places are limited. Registration is handled through Elitechip, the island's main race-timing platform, and full event details are listed on the Serra 4 Life event page.
Four Ways to Take Part
The format is what makes Serra 4 Life unusual. There are four options, and they suit very different people.
10 hours individual
This is the headline event. Solo athletes run on the official track for ten hours, and the person with the most distance at the end wins. It is a test of pacing, patience and stomach as much as fitness, and it is the format that gives the day its "ultra" character.
5 hours individual
The same idea over half the time. Five hours on the track is still a serious effort, but it is within reach of a regular marathon runner or a fit amateur who wants a big personal challenge without committing a whole day.
10 hours relay, teams of three
The relay is where friends, colleagues and gym groups come into their own. Teams of three share ten hours between them. Relays do not run on the track itself. They use an outdoor dirt circuit of around 2 km per lap, with mandatory changeovers in marked zones.
Charity walk, around 4 km
The walk is the family option. It is non-competitive, has no results table and is the easiest way for parents, grandparents and children to take part together.
Who Can Enter
The competitive events, meaning the 10-hour, 5-hour and relay formats, have a minimum age of 18, and every member of a relay team must be an adult. The charity walk is different. Minors can take part as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult, and children under 12 walk free of charge.
There is also a "Dorsal 0" option. It is a common feature of Spanish charity events: you buy a symbolic bib number that does not give you a sporting place, but your money goes to the cause. For anyone who wants to support Serra 4 Life but cannot be in Magaluf on the day, it is the simplest route.
In every format, participants must pass through the marked control zones so that their chip is read correctly. With hundreds of people circulating for hours, the organisers are clear that this matters for both fair results and safety.
Where the Money Goes
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness and mainly affects boys. Duchenne Parent Project España was set up in 2008 by parents of children with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy. Its stated mission is to find a cure or treatment, and it funds research and supports affected families across Spain. More about its work is on the Duchenne Parent Project España website.
The second beneficiary, Duchenne Baleares, keeps part of the effort here in the islands. That local connection is a big part of why events like this draw such a committed crowd. Many of the people running and walking know a family affected by the condition.
The Magaluf Athletics Track
The venue is Calvià's municipal athletics track in Magaluf, the Pista d'Atletisme Joan Munar Martínez on Carrer Miño. It is one of the municipality's main sports facilities and hosts school athletics, club training and community races through the year. For residents of Santa Ponsa, Palmanova, Son Caliu or El Toro, it is a short drive away, which makes it easy to pop in to cheer on friends for an hour or two during a long day.
Start times and on-the-day logistics are published by the organiser through the official registration page, so check there before you go.
Choosing Your Format
If you are tempted but unsure, here is a practical way to think about it.
- You run regularly and want a big goal: the 5-hour solo is a natural step up from a half or full marathon.
- You have done ultras before: the 10-hour solo is the headline challenge.
- You have a running group or a gym crew: a team of three in the 10-hour relay spreads the effort and is the most sociable option.
- You want the whole family involved: the 4 km walk, with under-12s going free.
- You cannot make it on the day: Dorsal 0.
For the long formats, think about fuelling and layers. Late-November days in southwest Mallorca are often mild, but evenings cool off quickly, and a ten-hour effort spans both.
A Busy Late November in Calvià
Serra 4 Life closes out a full month on Calvià's official calendar. The municipal agenda also lists the first Fundación Marco Asensio race on 15 November, the WDSF World Latin Championship from 20 to 22 November at the Melani Costa Sports Centre, and a Saint Cecilia's Day concert at Sa Societat on 21 November. We covered the dance championship in detail in our guide to the WDSF World Latin Championship in Calvià.
For anyone thinking about moving to the southwest, this is worth noticing. The image of Calvià as a summer-only resort misses the year-round community life that carries on through the winter. Charity runs, club sport and local events are a big part of it, and they are one of the easiest ways for newcomers to meet people. If endurance sport is your thing, our coverage of the Challenge Peguera triathlon and the Palma Marathon shows how much of the island's sporting calendar falls in autumn.
Living in Southwest Mallorca
We have been selling homes in Calvià since 1985, and the families who settle best here are often the ones who throw themselves into this side of local life. If you are thinking about buying in Santa Ponsa, Nova Santa Ponsa or elsewhere in the southwest, browse our current Santa Ponsa and Nova Santa Ponsa listings or our properties across Mallorca.
