Palma Long-Haul Flights 2027: Daily New York, More Abu Dhabi, Earlier Montreal
Palma long-haul flights are getting a big upgrade for 2027. United starts its Newark service at Easter and runs it daily from late May. Etihad starts a month earlier with four flights a week to Abu Dhabi. Air Canada returns to Montreal on 7 May and adds a fourth weekly flight.
A few years ago, flying from Mallorca to anywhere outside Europe meant changing planes in Madrid, Barcelona, London or Frankfurt. That is no longer the case for three important markets. For American, Canadian and Gulf-based owners, and for anyone who splits their year between Mallorca and one of those cities, here is what the 2027 schedules look like and what they mean in practice.
United Airlines: Newark to Palma, Daily From Late May
United has run Newark to Palma since 3 June 2022, when the first flight landed with 204 passengers on board. In 2025 the route went to four flights a week and was extended into October, and 2026 also ran at four a week.
Thinking about buying or selling in Mallorca?
For 2027 the season starts much earlier. As reported by the Majorca Daily Bulletin, the first flight from Newark is scheduled for Sunday 28 March, Easter Sunday, around two months earlier than in previous years. Flights run three times a week until 26 May, then daily through to October. The aircraft is a Boeing 767-400ER with 231 seats, and flights leave Newark at 4:20 in the afternoon, landing in Palma the following morning.
That makes it the first long-haul route from Son Sant Joan with a flight every day of the week in high season. For Americans who own here, Easter now becomes a realistic time to open up the house, and in summer there is no need to plan a trip around particular days of the week.
Etihad: Abu Dhabi to Palma, Earlier and More Often
Etihad launched Abu Dhabi to Palma on 12 June 2026, flying three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays through to mid-September. According to the Majorca Daily Bulletin, the 2027 season moves forward to 16 May, a month earlier than this year, and goes up from three to four flights a week. The earlier dates are still being finalised, and tickets for them are not yet on sale.
The route had a strong response from premium travellers and business passengers in its first season. Abu Dhabi is also a major hub in its own right, so for owners coming from Asia, Australia or elsewhere in the Gulf, a single connection there now replaces a European stopover.
This matters to us directly. Many of our clients move between Mallorca and the UAE, which is why we now offer properties in both directions through our strategic partnership in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. A direct flight four times a week makes living in both places far more practical.
Air Canada: Montreal to Palma From 7 May
Air Canada opened Montreal to Palma on 17 June 2026, with the first flight landing in Palma on 18 June. It was the first direct route between Canada and Mallorca, and demand was strong enough that the airline has expanded it for 2027.
According to the 2027 schedule reported by Travel Market Report and route specialists AeroRoutes, the season restarts on 7 May with a Boeing 787-8 three times a week. From 16 June a larger Airbus A330-300 takes over, and a fourth weekly flight is added from 5 July. Flight AC924 leaves Montreal at 6:45 in the evening and lands in Palma at 8:30 the next morning. The return, AC925, leaves Palma at 12:15 and arrives in Montreal at 2:45 the same afternoon. As always, airline schedules are subject to change.
Montreal is also Air Canada's hub for connections across Canada, the United States and Latin America, so the route serves far more than Quebec.
Summer 2027 at a Glance
- New York (Newark), United: from 28 March, three a week; daily from late May to October; Boeing 767-400ER.
- Abu Dhabi, Etihad: from 16 May (being finalised), four a week.
- Montreal, Air Canada: from 7 May, three a week; A330-300 from 16 June; four a week from 5 July.
All three are seasonal. In winter, long-haul travel from Palma still means connecting through a European hub, which is worth bearing in mind if you plan to spend Christmas or the early months of the year on the island.
What It Means for Owners and Buyers
For anyone who lives on two continents, the practical difference is large. A direct overnight flight from the US East Coast or Canada lands in Palma in the morning. From Palma airport, Santa Ponsa and most of the southwest are around half an hour by car outside rush hour. You can leave the office in New York or Montreal and be having lunch on a terrace in Calvià the next day.
It also changes how buyers use a home here. With an Easter start on the US route and a May start on the Canadian and UAE routes, the usable season for a direct-flight owner now runs from spring into autumn. That favours homes that work well in the shoulder seasons as much as in August: good heating, sheltered outdoor space, and proximity to restaurants and services that stay open outside high summer.
If you are relocating with children, the American and Canadian connections fit well with the international schools on the island, and our guide to British curriculum and Spanish state schools covers the options. For practical paperwork on arrival, see our guide to NIE, NIF, TIE and DNI.
